A night under the stars⭐
-by Vidhi Dasani
Your morning starts by hearing the rain violently pouring down, it’s another gloomy rainy day for you. You wake up and freshen up. Then you make yourself a warm cup of hot cocoa and settle down on the cosy warm couch near the window. Hearing the rain hitting the wet ground, and taking a sip of your drink. When it gets colder you wrap a soft blanket around yourself.
The smell of the wet mud enters the room through a slightly open window, fortunately, the rainwater can't seep in through that small space. One hour passes by just like that, you place your cup on the wooden table nearby and pick up a book and read. Soon, the sun slowly sets, the day has sunk into the dark night.
The rain slowly stops. You watch the sunset, the clouds are floating and the sky is painted pink and yellowish-orange. You sigh softly and enjoy the view. Now you decide to go out and enjoy a rainless night.
You take along a thick cosy mat and place it on the wet grass. Once you’re comfortable, you glare at the stars. In the dark blue clear sky, you see little shining white dots, the stars and the beautiful moon. The moon is like the night light for the sky. You get up and move, you push away your mat and lie down on the damp, cold grass, It is more comfortable this way. All your worries are carried away as a soft cold breeze blows by. You hear the crickets chirping merrily and a waterfall nearby and often soft whooshes of the wind. You can smell the wet mud. It feels like home, all your old sweet memories come back to you. You remember that little girl running around and screaming with joy for no reason at all, jumping up and down and always having a smile on her face. The little girl who found happiness in the smallest thing, the curious little girl lost in a world of wonder, the little girl rolling on the grass merrily, the little girl you were once. But things have changed now. Your face cracks into a smile and a teardrop rolls down your eye. It feels good, it feels nostalgic, it feels like home. The next day, you run out when it rains and get wet intentionally, running around and feeling happy, not gloomy. You fix the old swing. You contact your old friends.
Even the smallest thing can teach us a lesson for life.
Happiness is something only you can make for yourself.
Because even the darkest night is not so dark.
