How to relax better?

10 Things you can do, to beat stress and relax

Now I know, relaxing or having peace of mind is next to impossible during these stressful times. But here is a list of activities that will help you beat stress, if you try!

1. Take a nap- Honestly, this is my favorite activity, it takes no energy and yet calms you down! Recent studies show that naps reduce stress and strengthen the immune system of those who are sleep-deprived. It also keeps your blood pressure in check. This is your sign to take a pillow and blanket and take a nap!

2.Set small goals and complete them- We always start small, so set small goals, it could be something as small as making a daily routine (which you will have to follow, of course!), or writing a diary note before bed. Setting a goal and completing it, gives you a sense of accomplishment, in turn, you feel confident and as you keep doing this, you won't procrastinate at all!

3.Take a break- As you read this, draw a deep breath and slowly exhale, close your eyes and think about the good things, the positive things. Let positivity fill you.

4.Listen to music- Listening to music boosts the production of dopamine in your brain. And dopamine helps relieve feelings of anxiety and depression. Put on your headphones and lay back, listen to music, close your eyes and calm down. 5.Plan your dream vacation- Now I know what you must be thinking, "PLAN? We can't even step out!"  But I only want you to imagine it, the soft waves crashing on the beach, a gentle wind ruffling your hair, your legs sinking in the warm sand. Well, at least the image is nice.

6. Organize- This is mainly for those who work from home, look around your workspace there are scattered papers, coffee cups, and cables. Clean it up! I know that sounds tiring but believe me, a decluttered workspace also helps you declutter your thoughts. This also makes you productive and more focused.

7. Paint it out- As an artist myself, let me tell you painting is one of those things that will take your mind of the stress and constant worries leaving you calm and relaxed. And on the plus, you'll also be enhancing your painting skills. So take a canvas/paper, brushes, and paints and start painting!

8.Alone time- Sometimes people or thoughts overwhelm you, causing stress, at those times, sit alone in a room and organize your thoughts, take time to reflect on your choices, and ask yourself questions. This really helps you have a clear mind and make better decisions ahead.

9. Read- Reading, simply by opening a book, you allow yourself to be invited into a literary world that distracts you from your daily stressors. Reading also helps us practice imagination, by letting the words describe a certain image that the reader sees in his mind.

10. Writing- Last but not the least, writing, pouring down your emotions, your thoughts on paper may it be as a journal, diary entry or a book. As a budding author myself, writing helps me have a clear mind, be stress-free and enhance my thinking skills. You should try it yourself!

And remember you are not alone! You are loved and you are valuable, so believe in yourself!

The Youth Leadership Conference (my experience)

I never imagined that I would get to live my dream. A dream I aimed for, growing up, watching movies where students would live their best life in college. I wanted to be like those main characters, living a life with their roommates, having friends to run the hallways with and feeling excited for what comes next. I am eternally grateful to have lived my dream. I am grateful to have gotten a taste of the dorm life before my college experience through this intensive but rewarding youth leadership conference. 14th July. The packing that I had weeks to do was done in one day or specifically in a few hours before we had to leave.  At around 1:30, we arrived at Texas Wesleyan University. It took us a few minutes to navigate to the registration desk, but then we made it. My parents helped me unpack and dropped me off at the dorm. I waited there for my roommate. Honestly, I was anxious to see who my roommate for 5 days would be because no matter how anyone else at the conference was, ...
An icy death The forlorn shadows of the troubled leaves danced in the sun’s yellow light, As water stood placid, Even with the roar of the winds, For the top most layer of the water had frozen into dangerously thin ice,  A crack appeared as a fish hit the layer of ice, Slowly it all crumbled, Falling down sharply leading to a fish’s partial demise, As ice suddenly hit the bottom of the ocean floor, There came a shark, sea carnivore, It tore out the fish’s flesh before it could escape, Blood seeped into the water, As the fish was consumed whole. -Vidhi Dasani.
