Winter
The delicious summer air was eaten whole,
The warm softness is now crisp cold.
Like the grey-translucent shedded skin of a vibrant snake,
The clouds rise and fall like marshmallows being baked.
Until they are burnt to thin lines,
Just a lingering scrap in the once fragrant skies.
Stare up at winter’s abyss,
Notice, there is something you missed.
A streak of orange slithers in often,
It emits a yellow summer light and winter softens.
