World book day!

Today is world book day! So let's unwind and get lost in the pages of a book.

To convince you to read, Here are some genuine reasons you should read books-

-It helps you escape the reality~

Especially during these hectic times, who wouldn't want to unwind. Not only, it lightens your mood and keeps you stress-free.  It's like going on a walk, when you are going out for a walk, you focus on nature, the birds, the trees, the grass, and the wind around you. This distracts you from your worries and your stressors, just like this, reading is proven to be a good way to reduce stress levels and depression as you are distracted by the vivid storyline, each page, each sentence, each word, and each letter.

-You could go on adventures without leaving your home~

Reading makes you creative and fosters your imagination. As they say, the world may have boundaries, but imagination is boundless. And it turns out that when you read something, your brain reacts as if you are actually living it as if you are the protagonist. That's why when we read we feel emotions and emotions are only attached to memories or the present that we live in, so you see, we can actually get lost in the pages of a book, and not only that reading increases your emotional intelligence.

-Use it or lose it~

Your brain has a use it or lose it policy. Only if you read every day, and exercise your brain it will be stronger and your cognitive abilities won't decline.

-It increases your ability to focus~

Let me tell you about a device that was made by a man, that would help people focus. It was a soundproof box with 2 holes for eyes. It was soundproof because he believed that the distractions came from outside, like the sounds of traffic, birds, and whatnot. So he thought, if he was free of those sounds, he could truly focus. So he put on this box on his head and worked, but even then he noticed, he was still distracted, even if the outer distractions or sounds were eliminated, but he was still distracted and his mind kept wandering. This brought him to the conclusion that his mind and his thoughts were the real distractions. And reading books diverts your mind, makes you focus on the line and each letter you are reading so practicing this every day will make you more focused and give you a longer attention span and thus, it doesn't give your mind a chance to wander.

-Since you have read all this, your brain has acquired new information and new words. So alongside all the advantages of reading, it also improves your knowledge. It doesn't end here, reading improves your communication skills and makes you a better, more confident version of yourself.

This is your sign to pick up a book and unwind, also check out my books

  10. Not sure this happens with only with me.

Two possible scenarios which happen to me while reading books

1.I will be lost in the thoughts related to a particular paragraph in the book which I read (exmpl: what I was in the scenario), by this reading comes to halt and doesn't go beyond a paragraph.

2.While reading , my mind provokes me go to sleep.
    Unknowingly I will fell asleep.

Any suggestions how to be a good reader.

    1. Here are some ways you can become a better reader-
~it looks like you get distracted easily so you need a quiet surrounding. That would be the first step.
~Explore the differnt genre's of books. And don't feel guilty if you find a book boring, it just might not be your genre.
~Read everyday. Even if you feel sleepy, push yourself to read at least a couple of pages each day, if you are accustomed to it then your brain will be too. And you'll become a more alert, focused reader.
~It takes sometime to develop a new habit, so don't be disheartened. Keep trying, till you make it! Believe in yourself :)

The Youth Leadership Conference (my experience)

I never imagined that I would get to live my dream. A dream I aimed for, growing up, watching movies where students would live their best life in college. I wanted to be like those main characters, living a life with their roommates, having friends to run the hallways with and feeling excited for what comes next. I am eternally grateful to have lived my dream. I am grateful to have gotten a taste of the dorm life before my college experience through this intensive but rewarding youth leadership conference. 14th July. The packing that I had weeks to do was done in one day or specifically in a few hours before we had to leave.  At around 1:30, we arrived at Texas Wesleyan University. It took us a few minutes to navigate to the registration desk, but then we made it. My parents helped me unpack and dropped me off at the dorm. I waited there for my roommate. Honestly, I was anxious to see who my roommate for 5 days would be because no matter how anyone else at the conference was, ...
An icy death The forlorn shadows of the troubled leaves danced in the sun’s yellow light, As water stood placid, Even with the roar of the winds, For the top most layer of the water had frozen into dangerously thin ice,  A crack appeared as a fish hit the layer of ice, Slowly it all crumbled, Falling down sharply leading to a fish’s partial demise, As ice suddenly hit the bottom of the ocean floor, There came a shark, sea carnivore, It tore out the fish’s flesh before it could escape, Blood seeped into the water, As the fish was consumed whole. -Vidhi Dasani.
